Four million people in the United States have braces at any one time, but not everyone wants to have the traditional train track-style metal braces that are commonly seen. Invisalign is an alternative that is effective at fixing teeth and bites issues while still giving you a straight smile.
During an initial consultation, we will assess your smile to see if Invisalign is right for you. If it is, we will take a 3D scan of your teeth to create precise digital models of them. This allows us to design a personalized treatment plan that fits your unique needs.
Invisalign Braces: Are They Right for Your Smile Goals
You’ll wear your clear Invisalign aligners daily for about 22 hours each day (except for when you’re eating or drinking something staining). You’ll also remove them for special occasions and brush your teeth thoroughly before putting them back on. Practicing good dental hygiene will prevent plaque and tartar buildup.
The trays may feel tight when first put on, and your speech may sound different for the first few weeks. This is normal and will fade as your tongue gets used to the new space. Some patients need attachments, which are small tooth-colored shapes that connect to the aligners like buttons. They help control the movement of your teeth and must be attached and removed by an orthodontist.
Invisalign braces can be an excellent option for treating a wide range of crowding and spacing problems, as well as mild to moderate bite issues. However, it is not a good choice for anyone with a severe bite issue or a severe overbite. If you do have a serious bite issue, talk to your dentist or orthodontist about other options.
